Location: Kitchener, ON (Trillium / Homer Watson Industrial Park)
Department: Production & Assembly
Reports To: Electrical Engineering Lead
About Mycionics
We are a strong, multidisciplinary mechatronics team where every member directly contributes to the product. We design, prototype, fabricate, and industrialize full robotic systems—spanning mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, AI/ML, and data analytics—and deploy them globally to customers across three continents.
The Role
We are seeking a precise and hands-on Electrical Assembly Technician to help bring our robotic systems to life. You will join our production team, working alongside existing electromechanical technicians and mechanical assemblers to build complex industrial robotics.
You will be responsible for the assembly of delicate, high-precision components, custom cable harnesses, and industrial control panels. We are looking for a highly capable, self-sufficient technician who can interpret schematics, determine build requirements without constant supervision, and execute tasks with exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Assembly: Assemble industrial control boxes, PCB enclosures, and complex wire harnesses involving fine-pitch soldering and manual crimping.
- Testing & QC: Utilize Bench Top Testing Equipment, multimeters, and oscilloscopes to strictly validate assemblies and ensure zero defects before final integration.
- Schematic Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings to independently determine build requirements, identifying and flagging any missing information.
- Mechanical Integration: Collaborate with the mechanical team to integrate sensors, actuators, and cabling into the physical robot structure.
- Documentation: Utilize computer systems to track work orders, generate testing reports, and maintain traceability for assembled batches.
Technical Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of industrial experience in automation, robotics, or electronic assembly.
- Education: College Diploma (Technician/Technologist) in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent. Note: Candidates with significant relevant experience will be considered without specific educational credentials.
- Tools: High proficiency with manual crimpers, soldering irons (PCB & wire), and standard bench top testing equipment.
- Dexterity: Exceptional manual dexterity and attention to detail required for handling small, delicate components.
- Travel: Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel occasionally (Domestic & International) for site installations.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Robotics/Automation: Experience with industrial automation or robotics assembly.
- IPC Certification: A massive asset. We value the knowledge of how high-quality soldering and cable assemblies should look.
- Quality Control: Experience in a QC role or performing First Article Inspections.
- Cross-Functional: Experience with mechanical tools, forklifts, or general machine building.
Who You Are
- Enthusiastic Builder: You love seeing a machine come together and take pride in clean wiring and perfect crimps.
- Self-Starter: You can take a drawing and run with it, using deduction to solve minor gaps without needing constant supervision.
- Quality Focused: You maintain rigorous quality control in your work, treating every harness and enclosure as a critical system component.
Why Join Mycionics?
- Global Impact: We deploy systems to customers on three continents, offering opportunities for international travel.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in a facility where you see the physical machine being built next to you. You will collaborate closely with electrical, software, and AI teams to see your mechanical designs come to life.
- Growth & Advancement: We offer professional growth through hands-on experience and increasing ownership. If you show initiative and deliver results, there are real opportunities to advance as the team expands.
- Benefits & Wellness: We offer a comprehensive benefits package including extended health care, dental, vision care, and a Health Spending Account (HSA).
- Environment: Based in the industrial hub of Kitchener with free on-site parking.
- Culture: A collaborative team environment with casual dress, company events, and social hours.
